The Unelmasta todeksi – A dream come true exhibition by the young talent, glassblower Väinö Terho is now open at our gallery in Helsinki. The exhibition tells about the feelings of the young glassblower when at the end of an internship there started discussions of the possibility to work at the glass studio and organize his own debut exhibition at the gallery.

Come and meet glassblower Väinö Terho at the gallery!

Meetings with the young glassblower are held on Saturday the 20th at 11-16 and on the last day of the exhibition, Thursday the 25th at 11-18!

Here is a video from the glass studio in Riihimäki when Terho’s new artwork was made. Below you can read his thoughts about the design process and more you’ll hear at the artist meeting, see you at the gallery!

“I approach my ideas in two different ways. Sometimes I draw several sketches into the late night before I even think about blowing the item. And then sometimes I have an idea and want to test it right away.

In both ways of working I need to remember that the glass material has its own will. Even the best idea can be forgotten in the process of creation and the end result might be something surprisingly fascinating.”

“Art for me is a way to use both positive and negative feelings into the creative process. The end result tells always a bit of my life. I want to challenge myself with the techniques. In the beginning, it often means I have to clean some broken pieces off the floor.

Failures make me want to try harder and in the end, the next morning, after cooling down there will be a beautiful unique piece waiting.”
